Reaching Woodturners of the World through Remote Demonstrations.
Our demonstrations (both in-person and remotely) form a large part of our business, and in September '24, we asked our Facebook and YouTube viewers for feedback on our new series of remote demonstrations on social media.
Scoring a respectable 4.7 out of 5 across nearly 150 completed surveys, we noted the comments left on each survey and made some major changes.
Being in a rural setting, we have a mile of copper wire between us and the nearest fibre broadband box. For streaming, this isn't ideal but has worked pretty well in the past. It's not good enough now though.
Our Improvement Timeline:
DONE: We have invested in Starlink satellite broadband for hugely improved picture and audio quality.
DONE: Purchased three new PTZ HD cameras for even better and clearer views of the projects we have on the lathe. Easier to control than the camcorders we have been using for the last four years.
DECEMBER 2024: We are moving Martin's workshop to our school area and a dedicated demonstration studio. We expect to be able to place a couple more cameras around this area, but that will come in time.
